Downtown Business Support

Merced Downtown Storefront Program

The Merced Downtown Storefront Program is a partnership between United Way of Merced County and the Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce designed to help local businesses improve storefronts, increase visibility, and strengthen economic activity throughout Downtown Merced.

How the Process Works

Businesses interested in the program should begin by completing the Interest Form located next to this page.

Program staff will review each submission to determine whether the business meets the minimum eligibility requirements.

Businesses that meet the minimum requirements will be invited to complete a full application, which will be reviewed by a diverse committee of Merced City residents.

Selected Businesses Receive

  • $3,500 in design services through Storefront Mastery
  • Up to $10,000 for approved contractor services for storefront improvements
  • A Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce membership
  • Access to Chamber resources, promotion, and business support services
  • A public ribbon cutting or showcase event upon completion
No payment is required when submitting the interest form. Businesses selected to participate in the program will pay a $175 participation fee. This fee covers their portion of the Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce membership.

Application and Selection Process

  • Complete the initial interest form
  • Program staff will review submissions to determine whether the business meets the minimum eligibility requirements
  • Eligible businesses will be invited to complete an additional, more detailed application
  • Completed applications will be reviewed by a diverse committee of Merced City residents
Businesses invited to complete the full application may be asked to provide a signed property owner consent letter, a Certificate of Status from the California Secretary of State, an Entity Status Letter from the California Franchise Tax Board, and a current business plan.
Upon completion of the application, our project staff will reach out directly to assist businesses with gathering these materials and provide templates and guidance throughout the grant process.
